Hand made blades and blade smithing courses!
Hand made blades and blade smithing courses!
With this experience you will spend a day with me, one on one, getting a chance to grasp what it means to be a modern day bladesmith.
You will spend the morning forging out your blade with hammer and anvil until you are happy with the shape! then we move to the grinder and we refine the profile so it’s ready for hardening!
You will quench the blade your self and then we grind the bevel and sharpen!
Once your blade is forged, ground, hardened and sharp you will finish your day by going away with a handle blank that your knife fits into to glue at home!

With the two day course you will spend the first day forging out your blade! You will spend the afternoon grinding and getting everything ready for the hardening in the evening. It’s a physically demanding day where you will work hard and produce something much closer to a professional knife!
Day two is all about handling and then putting on the final touches of your knife before sharpening it.
Its two demanding days where you will work hard and get an experience unlike any other and in the end, walk away with a blade you will have for a life time!

The two day decorative sword making course is a bit more physically demanding than the knife making course as we have to fit more into the time available.
We will start by forging the tip in and forging any profile changes untill you’re happy with the shape. Then we grind the profile clean and grind in the tang.
Once the blade profiling is finished we will begin grinding the bevels in and stop it from looking like a length of steel and more like your sword!
Next we make sure the cross guard and pommel fit nicely and then you make your handle from scratch.
The pommel and cross guard is provided by me as there won’t be enough time to make them in two days on top of everything else.
If you are flying through the course then I am happy for you to make them if we make time by the end.
When everything is made and finished the we will do the final assembly and you will get to swing your sword around!
It’s important to know that this is not a hardened sword and thus won’t hold an edge or hold up to any impact. It is a decorative sword and is made to show your hard work and make your home just a little more epic.
